This holiday weekend was the National Book Festival in Washington, D.C. Our librarian Ms. Neal was lucky enough to attend the festival and brought back something special!
You may know Sonia Manzano for her role as Maria on Sesame Street. What you may not know about Sonia is that she is a first-generation-on-the-mainland Puerto Rican who grew up in the South Bronx. She used her personal experiences to write The Revolution of Evelyn Serrano, a gripping work of fiction set in an unforgettable time in America when young Latinos took control of their destinies. At the National Book Festival this weekend, Ms. Neal acquired a copy of this wonderful novel and Ms. Manzano dedicated the book to the SJHS Raiders. Check out this book in the library! Learn more about the novel and author at: http://therevolutionofevelynserrano.com/about.html
