Did you know that the library provides additional text services for your students with IEPs? In the past, we've been encouraged to only work with the school impairment specialists, but it's time for YOU to know some of the services that are available to you. We encourage you to work with your Special Education teachers to determine which of your students might need texts in larger print, digital format, read-aloud, etc... The students MUST meet the following criteria (and sometimes a few extra things):
-An IEP (Required 40-16A form)
-A case manager - who can work directly with Ms. Ziemski
-Medical notation in file regarding text specificity
If you're unsure whether or not your student meets these requirements, please ask your designated Special Education teacher or the student's case manager. Ms. Ziemski is the school Certified Digital Rights Manager (DRM) and can request texts through the state. She will be putting a flyer in your mailboxes regarding these services in the near future. Professional learning opportunities regarding these materials will also be available if enough interest is shown (by any teachers or administrators). Contact Ms. Ziemski with questions or for more information about the program (AIM-Virginia).
Please let us know how we can be of assistance!
